Kirkbymoorside FC were without a league game on Saturday as more than 20 players were unavailable because of a stag weekend.

However, the Moorsiders have just four league games remaining and four points from these games will guarantee second place in the Teesside League first division.

Manager Darren Rivis confirmed to the Gazette & Herald that his team were showing a keen interest in joining the Wearside League.

They must finish at least second in the league table and the Wearside League officials will shortly inspect the Moorsiders ground and facilities.

The Moorsiders are awaiting application papers, which once completed will be handed back to the Wearside League officers after their pitch and ground inspection.

There are many issues to be addressed, but this bold move has got the town buzzing, as the Wearside League are hopeful of gaining Level Six status within the next couple of years.

The Moorsiders return to league action on Saturday when they visit Guisborough Town Reserves, kick off 2pm.

Missing from the Moorsiders will be striker Paul Round who is suspended for seven days from Monday 24, for getting sent off against Stokesley Sports Club on February 23.

Good news for the Moorsiders is that leading goal scorer Johnny Brown is expected back shortly after his three month break to Australia.

Darren Rivis also told the Gazette & Herald that the club have had a fantastic season, despite the worst injury list he has ever known.

Both he and his players have learnt a lot, which will put them in a stronger position for the future.

The Moorsiders' remaining league games are as follows: March 29 Guisborough Town Reserves (away), April 5 Richmond Town (home), April 12 no game, April 19 Beads FC (away) and April 26 Richmond Mavericks (away).
